Pooraka Farm Community Centre features on Community matters radio, 10am Monday 26th July


Today on Community Matters (PBA FM 89.7fm or streaming live on the net at http://www.pbafm.org.au/   ) we have Heather Hewitt who is the Neighbourhood Development Coordinator of Pooraka Farm Community Centre.


We have a chat with Zoe Gall, a volunteer from Pooraka Farm who talks about how her experiences and skills gained in volunteering have helped in her new job, everyday life and her diploma studies.

We also have a look at the upcoming Longtan Day celebrations, which is commemorating the Veterans of the Vietnam war.

Upcoming programs and activities are also discussed, including Zumba and Modern Flower arranging.

Mawson Lakes community looking for world recognition : Community Matters Monday 19th July 10am PBA FM 89.7fm or streaming worldwide at www.pba.org.au


On todays show City of Salisbury's Learning Development Coordinator Annie Payne joins producer Bob Deinjum to discuss Mawson Lakes application for world wide safety recognition.


Background :-

Mawson Lakes is applying for accreditation as a Safe Community under the world wide Safe Community model formulated by the World Health Organisation. There is currently 180 safe communities across the world with new communities applying each month. Delfin have accreditation for several of their communities in Australia and Mawson Lakes is preparing for the visit by the auditors from NZ in October. The Mawson Lakes Community Safety Network committee is preparing the details with great assistance from Delfin and a letter of support has been received from Mayor Gillian Aldridge.

As a lead up to the audit in October the network is holding a Community Safety Expo on July 29th at The Mawson Centre from 5-8pm.

School Holidays, Midnight Basketball and Theatre Wrap features on this weeks show

Community Matters goes Youth! - Monday 5th July 2010 at 10am


Community Matters goes youthy 'live' in the studio this week to review and chat about the City of Salisbury's school holiday programs.



The next two weeks there is a awesome amount of cheap and fun activities across the city in spaces including libraries, the youth centre, our community centres and at Recreation centres.
