On todays installment of Community Matters we have 2 co-hosts from Burton and Morella Community Centres, Alison Davies (Neighbourhood Development Coordinator) and Liane Saunders (Adult Community Education Programs Coordinator).
Alison and Liane discuss the many exciting programs happening soon at these centres. These programs focus on keeping warm in winter and keeping fit at home.
They also discuss some July School Holiday programs including Hip Hop Obsessions, My Garden in a Box and Bears, bears, bears!
Liane and Alison have also chosen some awesome music to start off your Monday morning!
Community Matters is a short radio program produced by the Youth and Neighbourhood Services Division of City of Salisbury to promote the local community centres.

Youth feature on Community Matters Monday 24th May on PBAFM 89.7 MHz
Today on Community Matters, Kate Walker, the Youth Services Officer on Twelve25 joins us! Twelve25 Salisbury Youth Enterprise Centre is the City of Salisbury's dedicated youth facility for young people aged 12 to 25 years. More info at http://www.twelve25.com.au/
Kate interviews Susan Stancel from Shopfront Youth Health Service to talk about her experiences as a volunteer and how it has helped her in her life (especialllllly in the transition into employment), as well as some goals for the future.
We also look through some exciting programs happening soon at Twelve25 including:-
- Identity Inside Out - A program about building self esteem and identity through many forms of artistic means. The heighlight of this program willll be an visual arts exhibition as part of SALA in the Mawson Centre at Mawson Lakes.

Community Matters features Bagster Road Community Centre Monday 17th May 2010 at 10am
The show this week features Michelle Grinter (Bagster Road Community Centre Coordinator) who joins Bob the producer to discuss the programs coming up at Bagster Road Community Centre Inc.
Programs discussed include their community lunch program which is a low cost, three course lunch which provides many people the chance to socialise with others over a nutritious lunch. The next community lunch (soup, kebabs & trifle ) is on 20th May, only $5.00 per person, 12:30pm. Bookings are essential
Also coming up at Bagster is a community Disney Quiz Night on Friday 28th May. 7pm for a 7:30pm start
RSVP 21st May, bookings essential, tables of 8, only $5.00, BYO alcohol and food, A great chance for a cheap night out and a chance to meet and socialise with others. Come as your favourite character to win best dressed competition.
Bob and Michelle also speak about the IDAHO Youth Event Rainbow Cafe plus screening of the documentary Walk Like A Man movie. This event is celebrating the annual International Day Against Homophobia @ Twelve25 Salisbury Youth Enterprise Centre, 17 Wiltshire Street Salisbury, on Monday 17 May, 3:30 - 7pm (drop in at any time). Free, coffee, cake & light refreshments provided. More info contact Kirsty, SHine SA / The Second Story 8255 3477

National volunteers week and Neighbourhood House week feature show

On todays show we have Sanna Brannan from Salisbury East Neighbourhood Centre and The Paddock Centre. Sanna discusses the big thing happening this week, Volunteer week, the LARGEST celebration of volunteers in Australia!
We also discuss Neighbourhood house week, which coincidently is ALSO this week! Tune in to listen to what events are happening as well as the reasons behind why we are celebrating.
We also have a quick discussion about the upcoming IDAHO event called 'Rainbow Cafe' with Tristan Kahl who is a volunteer from Twelve25 Salisbury Youth Enterprise Centre.
