Monday 21st December - Last Show for the Year.



On Mondays show the guest presenter was Michelle Grinter, Coordinator of Bagster Road Community Centre.

Michelle interviewed Louise Christie from the City of Salisbury. Louise has a new role around emergency management for the council which includes preparedness for heat wave conditions.

Louise spoke of many of the strategies and support that people can access.

The show also highlighted the upcoming school holiday activies and the innovative 'Cafe 17 on Bagster' social and training enterprise. Open from 10am until 2pm 5 days per week the cafe provides low cost coffee's and light meals and provides an exciting community training environment.

Looking forward to 2010 Michelle also spoke about some of the initiatives coming in the new year including an open day, cultural activities and continuation of successful programs like Getting Your L's and the early years project.

Bettina Seifert, Manager of the Youth and Neighbourhood Services also joined the show to reflect on the year and wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

Robert Deinjum (Bob), a tutor at Twelve25 Salisbury Youth Enterprise Centre also spoke on the show about the upcoming 'Social Networking for Adults' program looking at teaching adults about some of the online tools their kids and grandkids are using including MSN, youtube, facebook, blogs, twitter etc. Call 82539928 for more information.

Monday 14th December show - The path from Volunteer to Employee



Todays show features Sanna, the Coordinator of Salisbury East Neighbourhood Centre and The Paddocks Community Centre, and looks at some of the school holiday programs and interesting events coming up at both centres.

Special guest to the show is Jane who is a recent arrival (about 2 years) to Australia from the UK, has been a participant and then a volunteer at a community centre and recently become an employee at The Paddocks Community Centre. She has a very special story to tell.

"Community Matters" is a program exploring the opportunities and programs available across the City of Salisbury in the network of community centres.

Monday December 7th 2009 show - Pooraka Farm Community Centre



This weeks show features Pooraka Farm Community Centre Inc.

On this weeks 30 min radio show Heather Hewitt, from Pooraka, interviews one of Pooraka's key volunteers about her role, why she volunteers and what she gets out of volunteering.

Heather also discusses upcoming school holiday programs and some of the plans for 2010 including a program on democracy and Multicultural Fashion.

Community Matters is the Youth and Neighbourhood Services Division's chance to promote the role of all our community centres and the interesting programs run from those centres.
